On the writing front, I've got nothing for you right now.

That makes me sad.

I'm not writing much lately. My world is filled with runny noses, dirty diapers, juice spills, bubble baths, laundry mountains, sippy cups, macaroni and cheese, crackers in the carpet, story reading, floors that need sweeping, sheets that need changed, Candyland, Thomas the Tank Engine, Strawberry Shortcake, booster seats, mittens, Did you brush your teeth?, Don't sit on your brother's head!, No more books in the toilet!, the clean-up song, etc. etc. etc.

I feel like any creativity I may posses is shriveled like the balloon that we got free at Applebees two weeks ago but we are aren't allowed to throw away upon threat of a full blown fist-pounding tantrum. We CAN'T throw it away Mom. It still has some some air in it.

What do you do to keep your idea nets out there and your writing brain functioning when real life seems to require more brains cells than you currently posses?

Run stark naked into the street shouting, "I'm mad as hell and I can't take it anymore!"

Or something like that.

:)

Ironically, I doubt anyone would stop you. I mean, if someone ran down your street without any clothes on, would you really say, "Hey you! Yes, you there... with your breasts gracefully swaying in the breeze and your dimpled tush kissing the wind... please be so kind as to clothe yourself!"

Of course not! You'd watch from your window and then blog about it!

So go for it! It's a heck of a lot more enticing than watching a 2-week old balloon deflate!

You cut yourself a break. Then you demand some free time from your spouse, so you can remember that you're more than a mom and wife.

"Don't sit on your brother's head" - That line cracked me up!

If I'm not feeling creative I still read books, if only to keep the ideas flowing.

Also, even if you don't have time to "write" still try to write your ideas on paper (even just the idea itself) and even if only on a used envelope or whatever.

Angelique - whose tush you calling dimpled? Just kidding. If dimples make you cute, I'm adorable. Thanks for making me laugh.
My husband says I'm welcome to run naked through our house.

Jaye - I am lucky to have a very understanding husband who gives me a break whenever he can. Lately, however, his own demanding schedule has made it very difficult for him to do that.

Struggling - That's my whole problem. I feel like I'm not even having any ideas right now. The most creative its getting for me is "Hey, I could put some chicken in this salad!" Good advice, though.

There are times when I feel my the added capacity of my brain cells equals that of our chicken. Or goes under it.
Well, these times I endulge in doing the things I should do anyway...but above that, I try to find some frereshment to the brain like reading, watching an interesting movie, carving out some self-time, or having a family trip to somewhere, anywhere, but somewhere ELSE....
I think I know this feeling.

If you forget the idea than it was not worth keeping it.

Szelsofa - Ha! If that't the case, then apparently nothing I'm thinking right is worth keeping. :)

I'm going to the library tomorrow!

Agree with Jaye. You have got to tell your spouse you need help. Men need it spelled out. It goes like this:
"Sweetie, I need to have a break. Can you take the kids for a few hours? Which works better for you, Saturday or Sunday?"
Put this in your own words...

CL - If there's one thing I am good at, it's communicating my needs to others. ")

He just doesn't have the time right now. He's working 70 hour weeks.

If anything, he needs a break, which makes me feel guilty for requesting one myself.

Hoodie, I wish I could help you with some good advice, but I'm feeling quite down these days and, somehow, just can't write...
If it helps, I can tell you that you're not alone. :-)

Vesper, I think it's the weather.
The cold shuts me right down.
