There has been a long-standing association between art and depression. Some of the greatest artists of all time have been afflicted. Maybe because angst is such great fodder for a creative product that speaks to people? There is no story without conflict, no painting without contrasts of dark on light. Who better to understand conflict and darkness than those who feel it at its deepest on a regular basis?
If there is merit to this line of thought, then I am destined to be a great artist.

without Wellbutrin I'd be blithering mess.
We all have our ebbs and flows. This post was definitely written during an ebb.
The reason I would never ever consider taking a mind altering DRUG (some call it medinice) is the FEAR of loosing some of my very own and special inspiration.
There you have it.
Szelsofa- I understand that fear. That's why my depression went untreated for many years. I felt that way too.
I thank God I saw the light, though. I don't feel my mind altered, since the drug just synthesizes a natural chemical I'm lacking. I do, however, know that being more balanced makes me a better wife and mother.

Angelique - beware of my all natural approach on the subject at the link you provided. Thanks for the space and listening to me. I wrote (perhaps) a bit too much...
And my opinion on writing vs. medication was only indirectly addressed over there...
But anyone can draw the conclusions as to my standing.
I guess I can't accuse you of saying too much... :)
Thanks to both of you for sharing your thoughts. It's a subject with which I grapple because I can clearly see both sides... as well as the murky gray middle. :)
Orson Scott Card said "writing can take a toll on your life, so make sure your life is in order first." It was pretty darn good advice.
