Digging for Treasure

If you head over to Jaye's Blahg you'll see her latest post has to with the expertise one gains in certain areas from doing research for writing.

After reading this I got to thinking more about research.

So here's a poll question for you -
What are your favorite sources to use when you do research?

Vocabulary Word of the Day:
VISCERAL - adj.- Perceived in or as if in the viscera (guts); profound; instinctive

I'm famous! Thanks for the link. I think Wikipedia is a wonderful jumping off point for basic research. Obviously, if you need hard facts you need to double check. But it's a great quick reference.

I thank the internet gods every day for Google.

I'm with Jaye. Wikipedia is a great starting point.

We are really spoiled with the internet. A Google search usually unearths a ton of information. Libraries must be really lonely places (except where they keep the computers hooked up to the internet).

I'll second that.
During translating a text from Hungarian to English, I hooked up with one specific word.

I had two versions, but was unsure about the first.
I typed into Google and got 4-5 results, mostly for Asian sites. I typed in the second and got thousands of scores.

In the translation I went with the second version.

Yeah, there is so much information at our fingertips. It's convenient and wonderful, but makes me feel a little spoiled. I get scared that with so much freely given us we will become a people who feel justifiably entitled to anything we can get our hands on.
